Special requirements for LCL shipments enrouted to Odessa
We had encountered uncollected cargo at Odessa where there’s no devanning warehouse to unstuff the cargo for temporary storage pending delivery. And high store rent, demurrage costs were incurred pending decision making. As such, Insurance has requested that for future shipments to Odessa, we require a letter of indemnity from shipper(both English and Mandarin versions provided in attached) and set up a procedure of close monitoring for such LCL shipments enrouted to Odessa which would rapid the disposing process of such abandoned cargo in future.
It is proposed to look into:
a) Cargo value before acceptance of booking.
The lower the value of cargo, the higher the risk will be.
b) Clausing of BL as suggested by POD agent:
For any B/L issued at your end / to Odessa port to insert the following clause clearly stamped on the face of the house B/L :
“ If consignee fails to take delivery of the cargo all expenses and charges created at Odessa port due to undelivered cargo will be for shippers account. “
